Due to parental leave we have a 14-month opportunity within our Finance Division.  Reporting into the Head of Financial Control, the primary purpose of this role is to lead a team to meet Allianz Australia groups external statutory and group reporting requirements in accordance with international and local accounting standards.

You'll be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Managing the timely and accurate delivery of all external statutory reporting and Allianz SE Group reporting requirements.
  • Ensuring appropriate and robust controls are in place to support these reporting processes, and add value via thorough interrogation and analysis of figures reported and instilling this practice into the team's way of working.
  • Managing the external audit relationship, and be the central point of contact for Allianz Australia.
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in relation to local and international accounting standards and provide advice to Finance and non-Finance stakeholders, and play a leading role in our IFRS 17 implementation project.
  • Assisting with the drafting of Board papers to provide support and assurance on the financial reports presented.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to support the annual planning process.

Important to your success:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or other relevant discipline and certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Significant experience in accounting and financial reporting and strong technical insurance knowledge.
  • Significant experience in the contemporary insurance business, understanding its key drivers combined with the ability to support the delivery of business objectives.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and assess risks inherent to the business and put in place appropriate controls / actions to manage financial reporting risk and support compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders to establish strong professional relationships and influence outcomes.
  • Strong ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands, supporting the team in meeting its objectives.
