What to expect:

An exciting new opportunity exists for a technically minded professional to join our National Recoveries Unit as a Technical Development Manager. 

The Technical Development Manager (TDM) for Recoveries is required to work in conjunction with the National Manager – Recoveries to drive the business units technical knowledge development and support the delivery of accurate, cost effective and timely recoveries claims management including business wide payment reconciliations, adhering to relevant codes of conduct, legislation and regulatory requirements including Financial Hardship, identifying relevant technical training needs for the business unit and overseeing external debt recovery agent management.

Reporting to the National Manager - Recoveries, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading, coaching and empowering recoveries staff to achieve individual, team, business unit and organisational targets and continuously strive to improve performance
  • Being a senior technical referral point for staff regarding policy interpretation, recovery claims decisions and recovery practices
  • Implementing and overseeing the quality review of recoveries claims and providing technical expertise to identify areas of improvement and further training requirements
  • Developing and managing the National Recoveries Unit Quality Assurance programme for external agents
  • Overseeing the recording, analysing and reporting of technical complaints and the escalation of disputes in accordance with Allianz procedures to ensure compliance with relevant Acts and Industry regulations
  • Ensuring accuracy of information with minimal inconsistencies across the business unit in relation to staff authority limits and compliance reporting
  • Improve recoveries outcomes by supporting the implementation of new processes, technology and other continuous improvement initiatives

About you:

This role will provide you with a significant level of autonomy and as such we are seeking someone with a proactive approach to their work, a relentless focus on providing a quality service to recover the costs incurred for our Not At Fault customers and a real passion and understanding for the technical aspects of recoveries claims.

The successful applicant must possess the following attributes, skills and experience:

  • Extensive technical experience including liability determination combined with a sound knowledge of debt recovery processes
  • Strong people leadership experience, including driving change
  • Ability to interpret relevant insurance industry codes and legislation  
  • A passion for technical mentoring, knowledge sharing and developing a coaching culture.
  • Demonstrated experience with quality audit frameworks and key stakeholder engagement
  • ANZIIF/Industry equivalent qualifications (desirable)
