Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) SE is the large corporate and specialty arm of the Allianz Group.  Within Australia and New Zealand, AGCS operates as an embedded division within Allianz Australia Insurance Limited, providing best in class services for AGCS's global clients in the Pacific region.

Due to internal movements, we are currently seeking for a Regional Manager for Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC), the risk engineering department of AGCS, in the Pacific. ARC is an international network of around 280 engineers, experts and risk consultants working globally and specialized in dedicated Lines of Business.

Based in Sydney, Australia, you will be reporting to the Regional Manager of ARC Asia Pacific in Singapore with a matrix reporting line to the CEO of AGCS Pacific in Sydney, Australia.

Within the Pacific region, you will be responsible for leading the ARC team through active performance management, managing the ARC budget, supporting the various Underwriting Lines of Business in achieving its profitable growth targets, working with various stakeholders in achieving success for the organization in a collaborative manner, driving through the global strategic vision of ARC, delivering the ARC global business objectives, driving improvements throughout the ARC operation, and driving any required change to make the organization more efficient.  

As representative of ARC in the AGCS Pacific Executive Management Team and ARC Asia Pacific Management Team, you will be expected to contribute actively to decisions which support the achievement of the AGCS aspiration regionally and globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk consulting (risk assessment, surveys, account review, project review, stewardship meeting etc.) in accordance to required ARC Standard Operating Procedures
  • Leading, managing and developing the ARC Pacific team
  • Planning and controlling ARC sizing and geographic distribution to achieve cost and service effectiveness (including manpower planning)
  • Leading and managing ARC operation based on agreed business plans, budgets and guidelines from Head Office
  • Motivating and supervising staff within ARC and monitoring loss control service standards, by setting performance targets, performance tracking, conducting annual staff performance/package review and competency assessment, conducting regular meetings etc.
  • Active support of Market Management in respect of client events, seminars and direct client contacts
  • Developing and maintaining professional working relationships with Underwriting, Market Management and Claims colleagues, as well as all other co-workers, client representatives, brokers, etc., to achieve customer satisfaction, both internally and externally
  • Maintaining excellent communication with Underwriting, Claims, Market Management and other departments, participating in periodic meetings to keep abreast of corporate developments and objectives


Required experience and education:

  • Experience as a practicing engineer (Minimum 8 years)
  • Experience in insurance / risk consulting (Minimum 8 years)
  • Senior management experience (Minimum 8 years)
  • Experience in a multinational organization with a matrix structure and cross-functional interaction in leading and managing remote teams (Minimum 5 years)
  • Degree in Engineering discipline; Bachelor's degree in other coursework will be considered in conjunction with extensive technical experience
  • Relevant graduate qualification is highly desirable; management qualifications an advantage
  • Risk assessment and Management: ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Line of Business
