This position presents a unique opportunity for a customer focused individual to join Allianz Australia as it is undergoing an exciting period of transformation. The Retail Distribution Division (RDD) distributes a $2.7B portfolio of general and life insurance products to consumers and small businesses across Australia. 

The Strategy Manager is a senior leadership role within RDD reporting directly to the Senior Portfolio Director. This role is directly responsible for facilitating strategy development and strategic planning for the RDD division and business units, as well as providing advisory support to the RDD LT. 

This position is suited to a passionate strategist who is consultative, analytical, results-focused, and a doer not just a thinker. The successful person needs to be a strong team player as well as an influencer who can challenge the status quo. 

As a highly respected member of the broader organisation, you will work with stakeholders across business units to develop a robust and well considered divisional strategy. 

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Contributing to the development of the overarching Retail Distribution divisional strategy
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to facilitate the development of business unit and channel strategies
  • Facilitating the annual strategic planning cycle within RDD
  • Ensuring the divisional portfolio of projects aligns to the Allianz Australia corporate strategy and RDD strategy
  • Supporting the development and facilitation of Retail Distribution Strategy offsites
  • Preparing reports for the Divisional Leadership Team, Executive, Board Committees and the Board

Key requirements of the role include: 

  • Minimum 8 years' experience within a corporate or consulting environment, including 5 years' experience in strategy formulation and strategic planning with a top tier consulting firm or an in-house strategy team within a large corporate
  • Experience with developing strategies for complex organisations
  • Outstanding strength in strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with demonstrated experience in analysing strategic problems, applying strategic frameworks and developing data driven recommendations with supporting rationale
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills are required to successfully engage with the executives and other senior stakeholders
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business and/or Finance are mandatory
  • Knowledge and experience in Financial Services would be highly regarded
