About the Role:

Due to an internal secondment, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Underwriter for our Motor business, to be appointed in our Technical division.

This role will initially be appointed on a 12 month fixed term contract, which could extend or lead to other longer term opportunities within Allianz at the end of this tenure.

Our technical division is responsible for pricing, portfolio management, reinsurance and underwriting services. We support our distribution functions through the improvement of the product and pricing framework for all of the Allianz General Insurance portfolios.

The Underwriter role is responsible for the effective underwriting of target accounts, and assisting in the development and refinement of our direct fleet underwriting capability.

Key role objectives will include but not be limited to: 

  • Ensure that all underwriting is performed in accordance with the Underwriting framework and strategy.
  • Ensure all premiums are paid within Credit Terms and take remedial action where necessary.
  • Provide reports on portfolio renewal retention, new business strike rates and provide analysis fortnightly and monthly.
  • Support the National Manager, Motor Fleet with underwriting referrals directed to the Technical team.
  • Manage relationships with key motor fleet partners and customers.
  • Ensure customer needs are reflected in our underwriting approach to profitably maximise customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to drive better motor fleet outcomes that meet both targets and customer needs.
  • Provide technical advice on pricing and acceptance of difficult/unusual risks, schemes or non-standard rating arrangements.
  • Maintain and refine our direct fleet underwriting proposition.
  • Support the National Manager, Motor Fleet with Technical Excellence initiatives relating to motor fleet.         

About You:

The successful applicant will have worked within a similar role previously,  with a solid understanding of General and Motor products and underwriting.

We are also seeking applicants with exceptional customer management skills and high level service delivery.

Essential Criteria: 

  • 3 years plus Motor Fleet insurance experience
  • Working knowledge & application of all relevant Insurance Acts and Codes.
  • Customer relationship management skills.
  • Computer skills in particular Excel to a high level and data analysis skills
  • Strong technical and analytical underwriting skills and experience.
