An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to be appointed within our Finance Division, located at our Market Street, Sydney CBD office.


Reporting to the Financial Accountant – Team Leader, this role will be responsible for ensuring accounting operational processes are managed in an accurate and timely manner and financial control standards are maintained for Allianz Australia Ltd and subsidiaries.

The key role objective will be to ensure financial controls are in place and performing adequately given business, systems and insurance scheme changes.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will deliver the following role objectives:

Financial Control

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records through Balance Sheet account reconciliations, systematic reviews and resolution of issues causing variances by engaging relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and post journals in the accounting system for month end accruals, amortization, re-classification, cost allocations and U/W agency transactions.
  • Manage daily operational cash flows and provide forecasts to the Investment team
  • Ensure integrity of Fixed Asset register by updating additions, transfers and disposals.
  • Manage debtor control and invoicing for non-insurance and intra-group charges
  • Reconcile premium, claims and settlements from underwriting agencies and participate in financial control reviews.
  • Conduct control reviews of levies and commission payments

 Process Improvements and Change 

  • Deliver process improvements to accounting process to gain efficiency
  • Make changes to finance process and systems to adopt to changes in business and insurance schemes
  • Participate in UAT testing of finance systems 

About You:

The successful applicant will be an accomplished and results driven Accountant, possessing the following experience and skills: 

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft office Excel
  • CA or CPA qualification completed.
  • Experience working as a Financial Accountant within the Insurance and/or Financial Services sectors.
  • Three years of experience working in Financial Accounting post qualifications completion
  • High level stakeholder management and business partnering skills and experience
  • The ability to deliver adhoc accounting tasks as required, including projects and producing high quality finance reports.
