Our direct insurance business markets consumer insurance products (Home, Motor, CTP, Life and Small Business) directly to customers. Our key channels are through internet & mobile and contact centres.

Allianz Australia is undergoing a period of significant transformation in response to key market trends (regulatory, economic, technological and customer). The Small Business portfolio which sits within the Direct business unit has been identified as a strategic growth lever for the business and forms a critical part of our new Corporate Strategy.

The Head of Small Business, Direct is a senior role in the Direct team reporting directly to the General Manager, Direct. This role is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Small Business portfolio and will act as the lead SME for Small Business in our new Consumer strategy transformation project.

About the Role:

  • Work with and support key stakeholders and service providers to successfully deliver business outcomes and initiatives  
  • Be the Small Business subject matter expert
  • Champion the delivery of the Small Business strategy
  • Develop, manage and execute the Small Business financial plan
  • Own the customer contact segmentation strategy for small business
  • Take a lead role with Marketing to plan & execute the customer new business and retention strategies including ad and offer creation
  • Build strong working relationships with our Technical team to monitor and understand competitor product & pricing activity
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to manage complaints and support NPS programs
  • Manage the delivery of daily, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Lead, mentor and develop employees within the Direct Head Office team

About the Ideal Applicant and Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in and understanding of the insurance industry(at least 5 years' experience)
  • An in-depth knowledge of Small Business, in the context of insurance
  • Superior strategic thinking and financial analysis skills
  • Financial Analysis and Budgeting (10 + years' desirable)
  • Experience developing strategies for complex organisations (10 + years' desirable)
  • The ability to manage key stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes at all levels of an organisation
  • The ability to coach and build strategic capabilities with junior colleagues and business stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience in the General Insurance Industry and a tertiary qualification in business and finance (e.g. MBA) would be highly regarded
