An interesting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Manager, Regulation and Policy to join our newly expanded Corporate Affairs team, located at our Market Street, Sydney CBD office.  We are looking for first class talent to join our team early in the journey and be instrumental in contributing to the long term vision for corporate affairs at Allianz.

Reporting to the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, the Senior Manager, Regulation and Policy is responsible for advising on policy and regulatory affairs in relation to commonwealth government and national insurance regulation and policy. 

Key Role Objectives

  • Maintain a current and detailed awareness of national insurance-related regulatory      trends and requirements, and the implications for Allianz
  • Maintain an awareness of longer term competitive and societal trends impacting      financial services in general and insurance in particular (e.g. demographic change, climate change, Internet of Things, changing customer expectations, technological change)
  • Analyse changes in the Federal regulatory environment and identify their impact on Allianz, providing advice to business stakeholders
  • Clearly communicate and build awareness about potential regulatory changes and implications with business stakeholders, external stakeholders
  • Manage and coordinate Allianz responses to commonwealth regulatory proposals and the preparation of submissions etc. to government reviews and inquiries
  • Work in partnership with business stakeholders in shaping Allianz position and response to proposed regulatory changes
  • Work in conjunction with the Insurance Council of Australia in influencing the industry's response to proposed regulatory changes
  • Develop and implement regulatory plans related to regulatory changes or new business areas
  • Participate in industry forums to understand and contribute to industry dialogue
  • Remain abreast of issues and risks that have the potential to adversely impact on the reputation of AAL and/or the insurance industry
  • Work collaboratively within the Division and across Allianz Australia to support continual improvement in corporate conduct, compliance and culture.

About You

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience (7-10 years+) in a relevant financial services company, industry association or government department and an awareness of insurance regulation and policy
  • Tertiary qualifications in Economics or a similar discipline
  • Exceptional stakeholder relationship management and written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to clearly communicate complex regulatory concepts to internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent problem solving and prioritisation skills
