  • Exciting opportunity for an experienced ‎Insurance Professional to join our high performing B&A Distribution team

Our Broker & Agency Distribution division works with a large network of brokers nationally. We deliver consistent, sustainable insurance risk and premium funding solutions for our broker partners and their clients.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced ‎Insurance Professional to join our high performing B&A Distribution team as an Underwriting Control Manager.

The primary focus of this role is to ensure the integrity of Underwriting and Sales activities across the business, by implementing and monitoring appropriate processes to ensure compliance with risk acceptance, pricing and operational guidelines. In addition, portfolio performance will be regularly reviewed and technical expertise, coaching and guidance will be provided to Underwriters, internal and external stakeholders. Also, role will manage internal compliance functions, which includes review and development of procedures, monitoring and implementing corrective actions that supports company's regulatory compliance.

As the Underwriting Control Manager, you will:

  • Ensure the business adheres to all company risk and compliance operational procedures
  • Work closely with the National Risk and Compliance Manager to ensure Distribution meet Allianz compliance framework.
  • Own, report and track compliance issues as reported by the Business. Ensure timely corrective action adopted.
  • Work with the Underwriting team to undertake analysis, identify underwriting issues and take corrective action as required.
  • Develop and implement strategies and action plans to improve profitability.
  • Undertake portfolio reviews and ensure appropriate remediation actions are in place to address poor performing accounts.
  • Oversight, including review and approval of Schemes and Facilities
  • Monitor cycle management / leakage and work with the business to implement actions to ensure performance is in line with targets.
  • Actively monitor Branch exposures to ensure desired portfolio splits are maintained.
  • Take ownership of peer (underwriting) review process
  • Work with actuary to fully understand valuation process and to ensure correct allocation of IBNR's
  • Oversight of staff incentive reporting and work with Underwriting and Development leaders to ensure understanding and appropriate action plans are in place.
  • Provide technical expertise, training and coaching to internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within Branch and other Allianz divisions, such as Allianz Tailored Solutions, Technical, Consumer/SME and Claims and as required.

 

Suitable candidates will ideally possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding the Insurance industry
  • Previous experience with Underwriting
  • Analytical and problem assessment skills
  • Strong relationship management and influential skills
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail‎
  • Tertiary qualifications in related discipline (or relevant work experience)
