Cyber Security Engineer

Allianz Australia is looking for a talented Cyber Security Engineer with a strong background in Information and Cyber Security, Risk Management and Cloud Security.  

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Cyber Protection & Resilience team, reporting to the Cyber Security Manager. In this role, you will be involved in cyber security projects, security design, technology consultancy and threat management aspects to reduce our cyber risks and continuously improve our cyber posture.

At Allianz our Information Technology (IT) Division is located in a state of the art activity based working environment. The design brings our  IT employees together in a spacious North Sydney office and creates a central, sustainable working environment. The new workplace has been designed to promote collaboration, flexibility and efficiency providing employees the freedom and technology to move around to different workstations, collaboration spaces and meeting rooms. 

Your role:

  • Manage and lead the completion of assigned cyber security projects, internal and external penetration tests and vulnerability assessments;
  • Assist the Cyber Security Manager with process improvements activities and improving Allianz Australia's cyber security culture including delivering cyber security initiatives in alignment within both the business and cyber strategy;.
  • Evaluate and consult on new technology and the security solutions that reduce cyber risk and complexity as well as creating velocity for our business;
  • Ensure appropriate cyber security controls and risk management plans are in place for BAU and project initiatives / tasks;
  • Work closely with service and application owners to implement appropriate controls, as well as supporting the remediation of vulnerabilities, penetration tests, audits and incidents; 
  • Investigate, document and resolve information / cyber security incidents as required;
  • Collaborate with our cyber defence teams to respond and resolve cyber security events;
  • Complete cyber threat and risk assessments, monitor emerging technologies and make recommendations to ensure Allianz continue to be protected against emerging threats;
  • Assist our security operations team, Allianz Technology and Allianz Group in developing secure environment designs as well as providing technical expertise in the deployment of industry leading cyber security toolsets.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following experience and skills:

  • A solid background in information and IT cyber security related topics  with a focus on vulnerability management and cloud controls, design and management (e.g. Azure & AWS);
  • An understanding of emerging security technologies and their impacts or benefits;
  • Experience of cyber risk management and performing cyber risk assessments;
  • Strong understanding of different application and infrastructure technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and consultation skills as wells as strong communication and writing skills;
  • An analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy;
  • Broad knowledge of major trends, strategic directions and regulatory / legislative requirements;
  • Previous experience in cyber security design,  architecture or consultancy;
  • Self-motivated, results oriented and driven to improve processes; and
  • People engagement experience in large and diverse teams located around the globe.

 It would be highly desirable if you also possess:

  • Experience working within or consulting to the Financial services industry;
  • A professional certification such as CISM or CISSP or other technical certifications
  • The ability to demonstrate engagement in successful implementation of cyber protective programs.
