Underwriter - Property

Our Broker & Agency Distribution division works with a large network of brokers nationally. We deliver consistent, sustainable insurance risk and premium funding solutions for our broker partners and their clients.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Insurance Professional to join our high performing underwriting team as an Underwriter - Property

The key focus of the role is to underwrite tailored lines Property business in accordance with company Underwriting Guidelines and within delegated authority levels. Key to the role is to maintain strong Broker relationships and work effectively Development staff to prospect and convert quality business to achieve profitable growth.

 As the Underwriter Property, you will:

  • Be responsible for Underwriting and quoting new business and renewal Property business
  • Make recommendations on risks that exceed your authority and prepare escalations (sign-off) ensuring referral is accurate, thorough and balanced in terms of achieving desired profitable growth.
  • Identify underwriting issues and take corrective action as required.
  • Support strategies and action plans to improve profitability.
  • Ensure business bound is aligned with underwriting guidelines, divisional objectives and portfolio balance (growth and profit).
  • Maximise retention of preferred accounts. Ensure timely review of renewal business and hold planned strategy meetings with Allianz Tailored Solutions and Account Managers as required.
  • Deliver professional customer experiences via consistent and positive interactions - live the Allianz Customer Experience Principles
  • Work with development staff to gain a deep understanding of Brokers business, areas of focus, needs, mix of business etc and align with Allianz areas of focus / appetite
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key Intermediaries, by collaborating effectively with the Account Management team and through targeted Broker visitations to discuss current renewal book, and target new business accounts to achieve profitable growth.

 Suitable candidates will ideally possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Tailored lines property underwriting experience (min 3 years desired) with a wide exposure to Commercial and Corporate risks.
    • Selling and negotiation skills
    • Superior customer focus and drive to maintain strong business relationships
    • Strong communication skills and attention to detail‎
    • Tertiary qualifications in related discipline (or relevant work experience)
