Internal Audit Manager

  • To support the risk-based audit planning process and execute the audit plan

Allianz is looking for an Internal Audit Manager on a full-time permanent basis. As part of the Internal Audit leadership team, consistently deliver timely, quality independent assurance to our stakeholders (including the Board Audit Committee and Senior Management).

Together with the Internal Audit leadership team, lead and execute the timely delivery of the audit portfolio to expected high quality standards, with resulting positive stakeholder feedback.


Audit assignments

  • Lead team to execute planned audits, assess business area under review, including key business risks and general control environment.
  • Oversee all aspects of audit engagements (e.g. planning, risk assessment and scoping, fieldwork, reporting and follow up), ensuring compliance with mandated Allianz Australia Internal Audit Policy and procedures and International Standards of Internal Auditing.
  • Prepare high quality, value adding, internal audit reports and present findings to senior management and the Chief Audit Executive.
  • Establish sound, strong business relationships while maintaining the independence required from being in the 'third line of defence'.
  • In performance of all work, exercise due professional care and diligence and ensure compliance with local and Allianz Group standards and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) internal audit standards and Code of Ethics.

Project assurance and special engagements

  • Where required, lead or perform project assurance engagements.  This includes understanding the project objectives and associated risks and providing varying degrees of assurance, depending on business request (which would require clear understanding of stakeholder expectations).
  • Lead special engagements, as requested by the business or other stakeholders, ensuring objectives (as determined by the requesting party) are met on a timely basis and value is provided, without impairing audit independence.


  • As a key member of the Internal Audit leadership team, responsible for achievement of team's strategic objectives (including around team engagement, audit quality and stakeholder engagement)
  • Commitment to organisational and team values.


  • Minimum 7 year plus relevant audit experience in a commercial or Big 4 environment with exposure in assessment of risks and controls. Local & Insurance experience preferred.
  • Understanding of the strategic business context and looking at processes from a strategic point of view. Understanding of and aligning to 2nd Line
  • Understanding of the IT landscape and virtual processes
  • Communicating the right way/tone/time. Interviewing techniques, negotiating with different hierarchies and influencing without authority.
  • Flexibility and agility, able and willing to continuously adapt and learn
  • Audit methodology, including risk assessments and Analytical thinking
  • Ability to identify root-causes and recommend practical solutions to address these
  • Analysing and mapping processes, with clearly identified risk and control points Audit related certification (e.g. CIA, CA, CISA etc)
  • Must have Business or university degree
  • Desirable: other relevant professional certifications e.g. Project Management etc
  • Ability to deal with all types of personalities and experience in managing escalation processes after delivering inconvenient decisions. 
  • Team spirit, self-motivation and a proactive and committed working style, as well as ability to interact in a global work environment with people from different countries and cultures.
  • Proven command of the English language (verbal and written).
