Allianz is looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance division based in Sydney CBD on a 12 month full time temporary basis.

As a member of a professional and efficient high performance and dynamic team, while supporting the Team Leader of Accounting Operations and Agency Relationships, support the accounting and financial information flows from Agencies to Allianz Australia and New Zealand. In addition the role will require assisting the Team Leader to conduct reviews of Allianz distribution agreements. There will be frequent engagement with a large number of stakeholders throughout the operational business units, auditors and underwriting agency contacts, establishing sound working relationships and providing a link to the Allianz finance team.

A responsibility of this role is to support the critical process of validating the cross functional delivery of financial data into the general ledger (GL) accurately and in accordance with accounting standards. This includes maintenance of the GL via undertaking the quarterly reconciliation process, on a timely basis with all variances followed up with the relevant stakeholders. A further responsibility will be to help apply and maintain accounting policies and internal controls, and help design and implement automation of accounting processes.

The key skills & experience desired for this position are as follows:-

  • At least 3 years' experience in Accounting / Financial Management
  • Exceptional time management and prioritising skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and an eye for detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment
  • Ideally possess knowledge of SAP, TM1, BRIO
  • Very strong MS Excel skills essential
  • Year End or Month End reporting experience would be advantageous
  • Financial Services / Insurance background, experience in Big 4's is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Accounting Standard AASB 1023 is desirable. AASB1023's transition to IFRS17 - Insurance Contracts and IFRS9 - Impairment of receivables experience would be advantageous.
  • CPA/CA qualified or in the process of gaining accreditation is a further advantage
