Due to our continued investment in Line 1 Risk & Compliance resources, Allianz Australia has a new opportunity for you to join our Operations Division.  Reporting to the National Risk and Compliance Manager, the Senior Risk & Compliance Manager will be responsible for supporting the business in implementing effective risk management strategies to promote a strong and efficient internal control environment across the Operations division.

The Senior Risk and Compliance Manager role is responsible for assisting in leading the implementation and execution of the risk and compliance management framework with a strong focus on managing operations compliance responsibilities and remediation activity.  As a genuine partner to the business the role plays a pivotal part in advising the business to ensure operational and compliance risks are appropriately identified, assessed and monitored. The role will require the promotion of a strong risk aware culture through continual engagement with the business through regular compliance and risk meetings and reporting to ensure that risk and compliance are a key consideration in business decisions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders to increase awareness and accountability for risk and compliance
  • Contribute to the strengthening of governance, risk management, internal control environment and the risk culture
  • Act as an advisor on risk management matters and in the development of processes to manage risk in line with the Board approved risk appetite and Allianz Risk Management Framework. Guide management in developing action plans to address current/emerging risks
  • Risk identification and control assessments as part of key strategic projects and/or business changes
  • Support the business with the development, execution and monitoring of remedial activity for operational loss/risk incidents, provide insights on root cause(s) as well as identify what actions can be implemented to prevent such losses in the future and ensure operational loss/risk incidents are resolved in a timely manner. Escalate delays to appropriate level of management
  • Communicate relevant risk management information to increase awareness of robust risk management practices
  • Monitor and report on key risk indicators and internal control performance to relevant internal stakeholders

To be considered for this role you should possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in risk management and compliance, insurance or audit
  • At least 5 years' work experience in Risk, Compliance and/or Internal Audit roles within the insurance industry
  • Proven strong management and leadership skills
  • Creativity and adaptability demonstrating the ability to approach a problem from numerous perspectives
  • A strong understanding of the risk management principles, risk management processes, risk and controls analysis and the 3 lines of defence model
  • The ability to manage the quality delivery of risk management outcomes aligned to the organisation's risk appetite
  • A strong understanding of the laws, legislation, regulations and prudential standards impacting insurance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
