Data Engineer l Locations - North Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane - hybrid working environment

Looking for a role that allows you to take deep ownership of your work?

Leveraging your first hand experience of data engineering best practice, you will build, run and support on premise and cloud-based data platforms. As an experienced Data Engineer you are confident navigating the complexities of a large and complex enterprise and comfortable to manage batch and real time workloads and data flows. Working within enterprise governance frameworks you will always strive to deliver high quality data solutions for business strategy and operations.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering solutions in partnership with Allianz Australia's Data Engineering practice, including the implementation of IDP solutions and operations
  • Engaging and collaborating with IT and business stakeholders across the enterprise to understand data related requirements
  • Overseeing the implementation of data technology and platforms to meet identified enterprise and division specific needs
  • Participating in design and implementation activities of the Integrated Data Platform strategy in line with data management and governance controls, Allianz's strategic priorities and regulatory requirements
  • Providing technical advice to the Data Engineering practice to drive more effective and efficient use of data platforms
  • Identifying and analysing emerging trends in Data technology, to provide input and consultation for upcoming development and enhancement initiatives

Important to your success:

  • Deep professional experience in the delivery of large and complex Data solutions in complex enterprises
  • Strong knowledge of event driven workflows, serialisation formats, data modelling and architecting for performance
  • Proven ability to work within Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse and other reporting applications
  • Knowledge of industry trends and technological developments in data technology and data platform design
  • Strong skills in SQL and other programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java
  • Knowledge of modern data architectures particularly Cloud native technologies
  • Experience working with DevOps and DataOps methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience in data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and data integration tools
  • PySpark experience (both development and troubleshooting issue)
  • Experience using both spark data frame and spark SQL for development, also , Understand and worked on hive on BigData environment
