  • High profile technical role supporting continued growth in the Domestic Property and Lifestyle portfolio
  • Work closely with Product managers, internal stakeholders and distribution partners to drive profitable business outcomes

Our technical division is responsible for product development, pricing, portfolio management, reinsurance and underwriting services. We support our distribution functions through the improvement of the product and pricing framework for all of the Allianz General Insurance portfolios.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced underwriter to join our team in this newly created role which is responsible for managing the day to day underwriting of higher value new business, renewals and referrals for both Domestic Property and Lifestyle products including Personal and Group Accident and Sickness.

The role presents a distinct opportunity to help shape these two key portfolios and to provide underwriting solutions to both internal and external partners.  

In this role you will be responsible for: 

  • Overseeing underwriting functions within the Domestic Property technical team, including reviewing underwriting referrals, high value applications and pricing queries.
  • Providing underwriting support and approvals across the Personal and Group Accident and Sickness and Liability portfolios, including managing both pricing and underwriting responses.
  • Providing guidance and recommendations for product enhancements and supporting new product development
  • Monitoring performance of the portfolio in line with budget and plan targets
  • Actively participate and support a diverse team environment.

This role would be ideal for an individual who has acted in a domestic lines portfolio or product management role and is looking to develop their leadership capabilities further. 

Your skills

  • Minimum 5  years' experience within underwriting environment, including exposure to Domestic lines and preferably life and/or Accident and Sickness products
  • Experience working in a compliance or risk environment
  • An ability to operate at a strategic level
  • Expertise in managing multiple activities and working in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and a proven record of implementation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly build and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional customer service
  • Tertiary qualifications whilst not essential will be highly regarded
