We are currently seeking an Underwriter to join our Broker and Agency Division in the Melbourne Office.

You will support and assist the broader underwriting team in providing tailored lines quotations for new business and renewals, whilst always adhering to company Underwriting Guidelines and operating within delegated authority levels.

In conjunction with the Underwriting team, Underwriting Operations Manager and Account Management staff, you will ensure that new business and renewal processes are managed according to agreed service standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Take personal responsibility for nominated portfolio and also provide back-up support to the broader team as required.
  • Underwrite insurance risks in area of responsibility, adhering to underwriting guidelines and standards
  • Ensure business bound is aligned with divisional objectives and portfolio balance (growth and profit).
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within Branch and other Allianz divisions, such as Claims, ARCA and Technical, as required.
  • Work with the Account Management team and other Underwriters to achieve key financial metrics against plan - GWP, Renewal Retention (risk count), Contribution and One Allianz.    

To be successful in the role you will possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years SME Underwriting experience (desirable)
  • Tailored Lines - Property, Liability and Motor Fleet experience (desirable)
  • The ability to engage and influence across different stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong presentation and reporting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to analyse and problem solve where required
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines
