Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer this role leads and controls our Reinsurance Management and Underwriting Services functions.  This includes underwriter reviews, documentation strategy, documentation compliance, underwriting controls and operational management of printing and mail house production.  In this role you will lead a multi-disciplinary team, manage relationships with senior stakeholders and regulators and be an influential member of various Committees.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Reinsurance Management:

  • Negotiation of Reinsurance placement
  • Driving the agenda on the AAL Reinsurance committee
  • Managing annual review and renewal of treaties
  • Lead role in managing internal and external stakeholders regarding Reinsurance
  • Managing all Reinsurance Treaty processes

Underwriting Services:

  • Overseeing  the team that delivers enterprise wide Underwriting reviews and holding Senior Underwriting authority
  • Overall accountability to Document Compliance and print services for the enterprise

To be successful in this role we are looking for an experienced executive who is looking for an opportunity to lead a diverse business unit. Key skills and experiences we are seeking include:

  • Strong background and experience in general insurance including demonstrated understanding of Reinsurance, underwriting and or product management
  • Proven leadership experience. In particular with deep experience in building business unit strategy, business planning and budgeting experience
  • Strategic thinking skills. The ability to provide visionary leadership and understand new opportunities.
  • Proven track record in influencing internal and external stakeholders
  • Superior analysis and problem solving skills
  • High attention to detail coupled with a knowledge of risk management and compliance
  • Tertiary qualifications are highly desired.
