These roles sit within our Technical Division which is responsible for pricing, portfolio management and underwriting services. We support the distribution functions through the improvement of the product and pricing framework for all of the Allianz General Insurance portfolios.

We are seeking a Product Lead, Property to to support the development and implementation of product strategies, and to perform product and underwriting controls to ensure adherence to governance frameworks and support the achievement of portfolio performance.

You'll be expected to:

  • Support the preparation and implementation of product strategy, monitoring and analysing market and competitor activities to provide insights. 
  • Develop and implement changes to new and existing products as informed by analysis, market and customer research. 
  • Drive the annual review of policy wordings and the annual review of policy documentation.
  • Perform the analysis of product risk metrics and prepare product reviews and Product Governance packs; recommend and implement actions informed by analysis.
  • Drive analysis of risk appetite and underwriting guidelines as input to the target market determination and adherence to the risk appetite statement. 
  • Conduct analysis of the portfolio, including the identification of results drivers, variation from target and the preparation of communications to convey findings.  Support the implementation of appropriate actions to resolve/remediate underperformance.
  • Review the pricing analysis and outcomes of pricing changes; support implementation of rating tool changes.
  • Drive the performance of underwriting controls, and implement enhancements based on findings.
  • Manage complex underwriting referrals.
  • Support the development of the underwriting framework and associated guidelines, undertaking of underwriting reviews and reporting process for the product line. 

Important to your success:

  • Significant experience in an ISR/ Property product/ portfolio analytics, development or management role acquired in an insurer.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, using insights related to the market, opportunities, risks and competitors within the insurance industry as well as an understanding of the levers that influence these factors.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity and contribute to the provision of pragmatic commercial solutions to meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends and links that inform judgements and solutions.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights and evaluate options for decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to explore business insights and trends to identify and translate potential for operational improvement, growth and/or cost saving opportunities.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.

Whilst this role would ideally be performed out of the Sydney Head Office, there is scope for the right person to be located elsewhere.
