Looking for the space to do things differently?

Reporting to the Manager, Statutory Reporting you will be responsible for the timely delivery of complete and accurate statutory and group reporting processes for Allianz Australia and its operations.  You will perform month end / quarter end / year end close processes whilst challenging and interrogating information being provided to ensure the figures are clearly understood and supported.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Perform month end / quarter end / year end close processes for Allianz Australia's operations for Allianz Australia's operations.
  • Support the annual planning process for Allianz's subsidiaries and collaborate with the relevant stakeholders to understand strategies and drivers of the business.
  • Prepare quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate the variances proactively.  Recognise key risks and impacts on financial reporting and implement robust controls and processes to support financial reporting processes.
  • Establish strong working relationships within and outside of Finance, be a 'go-to person' for areas of responsibility and understand the business, their strategies and drivers, and how these support the numbers being reported.
  • Actively seek opportunities to participate in projects / ad-hoc work occurring within the Statutory Reporting / Financial Assurance teams eg. implementation of new accounting standards or review of strategic business proposals. 

Important to your success:

  • Minimum 4 years work experience in a similar role. 
  • CA / CPA qualified.  BIG4 first movers highly regarded.
  • Strong technical accounting acumen with the ability to interpret changes in the business into accounting impacts and identify where business events impact on financial results. Exposure and experience of IFRS 17 is favourable, though not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve the reporting process through automation is highly sort after.  There will be continuous focus on process improvement and transformation.
  • Excel modelling and VBA knowledge to build efficient and well controlled reporting workbooks is desirable.
