Allianz Australia is looking for a Finance Actuary to join the successful actuarial team in the Finance Department. As part of this high performing team you will be reporting to the Chief Actuary. In this role, you will be expected to provide support for:

  • Managing the biannual valuation process as part of a team of valuation actuaries for a large and diversified portfolio, as well as the monthly roll-forward valuations for management accounting
  • Identifying and reporting on material trends identified in the valuation process and potential impact on future profitability and solvency
  • Providing input into the planning process, and ensuring that projected P&L and balance sheet items are realistic
  • Supporting Allianz Australia's reporting to the Allianz Group
  • Using the results of Liability Valuation to provide input into the parameterisation of the internal capital model
  • Monitoring the implications of changes in economic drivers on asset liability management and solvency
  • Analysis, contributions to and management of key strategic projects involving the Finance Actuarial department
  • Direct interaction with senior management, including the CFO and with the CEO at Reserving Committee meetings.
  • Contributing to the annual production of the Financial Condition Report

Your experience operating within a general insurance environment, coupled with your initiative and proactive nature, will expose you to numerous opportunities to develop and learn in a friendly and supportive environment.

To be considered and successful for this role you must demonstrate:

  • A Qualified Actuary (FIAA or equivalent); any level of post qualification experience is acceptable.
  • Experience in General Insurance reserving; any class of business and overseas experience will be considered.
  • An ability to report to Allianz Group on European Solvency II results - prior experience working in Solvency II is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Strong SAS and MS Excel skills. Experience with VBA is preferable but not essential.
  • Ability to quickly build and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional customer service
  • Ability to manage actuarial analysts
  • Strong time management and organisation skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise your work, whilst working in a fast paced environment

This is a full time permanent role based in the Sydney CBD with some flexibility to occasionally work from home.
