Technical Specialist - Workers Compensation

We're seeking a Technical Specialist to join our Workers Compensation team based in our Sydney Office. This role is vital to ensure compliance with Icare requirements by monitoring team and business unit performance and providing expert knowledge to improve processes and performance.

What you should expect

This role is critical for managing the quality review process for compliance measures within the workers compensation team and take ownership for analysing results, identifying trends and assisting with the coaching and development of the wider team.

It will be your responsibility to:

  • Work with the Injury Management Specialist and Team Leaders to provide support to the wider team
  • Understand the outcome measures and remuneration model
  • Provide assistance with developing technical/claims management strategies by empowering staff to develop their case management skills through coaching and role modelling
  • Attend claims reviews with the team
  • Ensure compliance against legislative time frames
  • Ensure clear finalisation strategies are in place for claims within the team's portfolio, and that claims are finalised appropriately
  • Conduct monthly Quality Assurance reviews
  • Negotiate with Stakeholders internally and externally (e.g brokers and employers) as appropriate and bring an ability to influence using commercial acumen.

You will bring an ability to influence and manage multiple stakeholders across our business divisions. You are known for your strong analytical skills and business focused solutions.  In addition you will be valued for;

  • A deep understanding of technical and professional knowledge of the NSW Workers Compensation legislation and guidelines
  • Experience in either Workers' Compensation, disability or personal injury management
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities and analytical skills
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level attention to detail with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Demonstrated ability in coaching and mentoring others
