DevOps Engineer

Allianz Australia is looking to engage a DevOps Engineer to sit within our IT Development team based in our new state-of-the-art offices in North Sydney.

The DevOps engineer role is crucial in rolling out best practice automation across on premise and cloud applications. The role will include an expansion in automation across provisioning, development, testing and operational monitoring of applications. The shift towards DevOps technology and practices is aligned to a significant program of work within Allianz Australia.

The successful candidate will deliver the following role objectives and deliverables:

  • Manage build jobs across Jenkins/SVN and GIT/Bamboo
  • Ensure the smooth running of Linux build servers (Disk space / CPU / Agents / backups etc).
  • Administration of CI build pipeline tools including security scanning (SONAR/NexusIQ/AppScan)
  • Assist with rollout of key IT systems onto cloud (OpenShift / AWS) and configure optimal CI/CD toolchain.
  • Assist development teams with code branching/merging/build failures
  • Assist development teams with production of release notes
  • Assist with the release process, from the planning of a release through to production deployment
  • Assist with the automated provisioning of environments.
  • Pioneer new technology and automation in CI space

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experience and attributes:

Essential:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to effectively liaise with and influence diverse stakeholder groups across both the Business and IT.
  • Expert understanding of Java build technologies (Java / Maven).
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and version control tools, (Bamboo/Jenkins / GIT/CVS/SVN)
  • Expert understanding of Linux and shell script. Installing software, setting up services, and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to Openshift and AWS
  • 3 years' + experience with development processes / methodologies (agile, RUP, waterfall, etc)
  • 3 years' + experience troubleshooting end-to-end application environments within complex distributed environments

Desirable:

  • Experience logging frameworks Splunk, Elk or similar.
  • Experience across Atlassian build tools (Bamboo, Stash, JIRA), Sonar, Nexus, Jenkins
  • Container platforms Openshift/Pivitol Cloud Foundry, AWS
  • IBM Websphere, DB2, IBM MQ, IBM Message Broker, Tomcat, Springboot
  • 3 years + delivering software into production ideally within Financial Service or the Insurance Sector
