About the Role:

Allianz Australia is making significant investment in their risk & compliance capabilities and capacity.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a progressive first line risk and compliance function in our Retail & Distribution Division. The team's purpose is to safeguard and strengthen the position of the RDD business so as to preserve customer and enterprise value and performance. Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, the Manager is responsible for assisting in leading the implementation and execution of the risk management framework. As a genuine partner to the business, this role plays a pivotal part in advising the business to ensure enterprise risks are appropriately identified, assessed and monitored. The position will require the promotion of a strong risk aware culture through continual engagement with the business, so that risk and compliance are a key consideration in business decisions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders and increase awareness of risk management.
  • Contribute to the strengthening of governance, risk management, internal control environment and the risk culture.
  • Act as an advisor on risk management matters and in the development of processes to manage risk in line with the Board approved risk appetite and Allianz Risk Management Framework.
  • Guide management in developing action plans to address current/emerging risks.
  • Facilitate risk identification and control assessments as part of key strategic projects and/or business changes.
  • Support the business with the development, execution and monitoring of remedial activity for incidents, provide insights on root cause(s) as well as identify what actions can be implemented to prevent such losses in the future.
  • Support Senior Managers in embedding practical solutions across RDD.
  • Communicate relevant risk management information to increase awareness of robust risk management practices.
  • Monitor and report on key risk indicators and internal control performance to relevant internal stakeholders.

 To be considered for this role you should possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in risk management, insurance or audit
  • At least 4-7 years' work experience in Risk Management and/or Internal Audit roles within the insurance industry
  • Proven strong management and leadership skills
  • Creativity and adaptability demonstrating the ability to approach a problem from numerous perspectives.
  • A strong understanding of the risk management principles and processes
  • Ability to apply the risk management disciplines across the value chain is desired
  • The ability to manage the quality delivery of risk management outcomes aligned to the organisation's risk appetite
  • An understanding of the regulatory environment and the insurance industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
