Senior Risk Analyst - Retail & Distribution

About the Role:

Allianz Australia is making significant investment in their risk & compliance capabilities and capacity.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a progressive first line risk and compliance function in our Retail & Distribution Division. The team's purpose is to safeguard and strengthen the position of the RDD business so as to preserve customer and enterprise value and performance.  Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Analyst will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying effective risk management practices. The role will support the development and coordination of key risk management activities across the RDD division. This includes promoting awareness and understanding of a proactive and positive risk culture.

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders and increase awareness of enterprise risk management and compliance obligations.
  • Provide analysis of thematic risk, incident and issues arising from operational failures.
  • Support the escalation process for risks and incidents (including breaches).
  • Partner with the RDD business to embed leading incident & issue management practices.
  • Lead the incident validation process.
  • Implement appropriate reports (e.g. dashboard) and ongoing reporting on risks and incidents (including issues).
  • Assist in the design and implementation of the line 1 controls testing and assurance program.
  • Work with the wider team to establish and cascade guidance and education across RDD.

 To be considered for this role you should possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in data analysis/science, risk management and/or compliance
  • At least 2-3 years' work experience as an analyst, auditor or in a risk/compliance role
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of how risks relate to business processes and the business ‘risk and control' environment.
  • Good teamwork, internal stakeholder management skills and the ability to work with a variety of people
  • Understanding of internal processes, procedures and standards
  • Strong data analytical skills to convert risk and incident data into meaningful management information
  • Demonstrated ability to use analytical tools and software (SAS, excel, etc.)
  • Strong Written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in the financial industry is preferable
