An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished Data Center Facilities Manager to join Allianz Technology, based in our new state-of-the-art, ABW offices in North Sydney.

The role supports the Allianz production environment and the development and test environments. The Data Center Facilities Manager is responsible for delivering high quality, innovative, cost effective Data Center strategies in support of the Data Center technology architectures. The managing of all day-to-day operational aspects to ensure the availability and quality of the organisation's Data Center environment including racks, cabling, power consumption, cooling and all associated hardware. It also includes developing and maintaining effective financial controls such as cost and capability required to deliver services to agreed service levels and ensuring the continuous management of strong relationships with various vendors across different suppliers.

The successful candidate will deliver the following role objectives and deliverables:

  • Maintain site reliability through identification of risk and application of risk reduction strategies
  • Subcontractor management and supervision including maintenance, repair and new installations, both inside and outside of normal business hours
  • Ensuring all work performed on site meets the agreed scope of works and an acceptable level of quality across rack installation, cabling, power consumption and cooling within the Data Center
  • Ensuring support of all infrastructure systems is provided effectively on a 24 hour basis and maintaining a stable complement of motivated technology professionals and utilising third party resources wherever necessary to maximise capacity
  • Undertaking capacity planning reporting for all aspects of the Data Center and provide regular reports and recommendations
  • Support the Allianz team with the day-to-day operations of the data center by providing high quality & efficient technical maintenance

The ideal successful applicant will possess the following attributes, skills and experience:

  • Experience managing a data center from both an build and run perspective
  • Strong knowledge of data centers, data cabling and cable management
  • Demonstrated technical skills and experience in supporting\understanding of electrical and/or mechanical services infrastructure
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Experience in subcontractor management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and efficiently liaise with diverse stakeholder groups, internally and externally 
  • Ideally a degree in Information Technology or related area
  • Experience working within complex and large scale environments, ideally within Financial Services
